Detectives have until midday to question a 32-year-old man over the murder of the three men after they were granted a superintendent's extension.
The force had 1,000 officers on duty overnight - compared with 400 for each of Monday and Tuesday - with the situation across the region remaining calm.
In an unprecedented move, Solihull Magistrates' Court sat all night to help fast track those charged in connection with the disorder in the region.
Five people who appeared at Solihull Magistrates' Court overnight were sent to prison while one juvenile was bailed with strict conditions including an electronic curfew, West Midlands Police said.
Chief Superintendent Kay added: "Last night we worked closely with the communities of the West Midlands to appeal for calm and it is pleasing to see that these appeals were listened to and the streets remained quiet and peaceful.
"Our focus was on maintaining a high-visibility presence throughout the night and early hours, which helped prevent any further disorder.
"We have seen the benefits of social media being used responsibly to send positive messages about the situation in the West Midlands and to dispel malicious rumour and innuendo.
"We would like to thank the community for their ongoing support."
In Manchester, scene of sickening riots and looting on Tuesday night, many shops closed early as a precaution. But a large police presence and heavy rain helped put off wannabe looters and vandals from returning to the streets to cause more havoc.
Police said there were no reports of major incidents of disorder last night in Greater Manchester as the number of arrests rose to 145 - including an 18-year-old man being questioned on suspicion of arson after a Miss Selfridge outlet was torched.
Calm was also restored to the streets of south Liverpool after two successive nights of "unprecedented violence".
On Tuesday night around 200 youths roamed the streets from Toxteth to Wavertree, causing disorder and damage in their path.
Trouble also spread to Birkenhead following Monday's night disorder in Toxteth and Dingle when cars and wheelie bins were set alight on a trail of destruction as yobs also clashed with riot police.
Overnight there were no reported incidents of public disorder but there were a small number of arrests following stop and searches of youths.
In London, many areas have seen vigilante groups patrolling the streets as people look to defend their property.
There was no new trouble overnight, but police continued to make arrests over the violence of previous days.
Scotland Yard said 888 people have now been arrested in connection with violence, disorder and looting in the capital, with 371 charged.
After a Nottingham police station was fire-bombed on Tuesday night, a zero tolerance policy was imposed on anyone intent on causing disorder last night.
A calm night followed, with the force saying it had received no reports of significant gatherings of youths in the county after deploying dog-handlers and the force's mounted section to back up around 800 police officers, community support officers, and special constables.
Although police dealt with a handful of incidents of criminal damage, there were only four arrests overnight, compared with 86 during the previous evening.
There was no repeat last night of the disturbances that saw rioters clash with police in Gloucester.
There was a strong police presence in areas of the city where trouble could have been sparked but the night passed off peacefully.
Gloucestershire Police said six people were arrested last night for separate public order offences, including possession of an offensive weapon.
The number of arrests made directly in connection with the trouble in the city on Tuesday night now stands at 18.
